Voters in the Calcutta North East Lok Sabha constituency may be in for a surprise when they go to elect their representative on May 10 - they may not be quite familiar with the Congress candidate Indira Mukherjee.
It is, of course, another matter that she is none other than film actress Mousumi Chatterjee, but with the balika bodhu filing her nomination on Thursday in her real name Indira Mukherjee, her voters are likely to be taken by surprise.
The affidavit accompanying her nomination papers indicate that the 45-year-old, non-matric film star is one of the few crorepatis contesting from West Bengal.
According to the affidavit, her assets are valued at Rs 1,98,61,480. She has nearly Rs 600,000 deposited in banks, company shares worth Rs 1,67,825 and Rs 130,000 in NSC, besides Rs 20,000 in UTI MEP and Rs 20,000 in SBI Mutual Funds. Her jewellery is worth Rs 6,15,922 and she has one flat at Lonavala and another in Pali Hill, Mumbai worth Rs 2,65,557. She owns a Santro and a Hyundai Accent.
