Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Friday thanked the 'Pakistani janta' for their exemplary behaviour during the just-concluded cricket series.

Addressing an election campaign in Ahmedabad, he congratulated the Indian team for its overseas series victory and said 'we have to learn from the behaviour of the Pakistani spectators'.

"It is tough to digest defeat. But in a game there can be victory or loss. There is no question of feeling bad. It is part of sportsman spirit. We have much to learn from their behaviour too," he said.

Pointing to the improving relations between the two countries, Vajpayee said, "This is a new beginning, but how far we will be successful is difficult to say. India wants to establish peace with its neighbours and its image all over the world is good."
