An estimated 80 to 90 per cent voter turnout was reported in repolling in 51 booths spread over seven districts of Nagaland, which passed off peacefully.

The repoll passed off peacefully except for an incident of exchange of fire between suspected militants and the Indian Reserve Battalion personnel outside the polling booth under Koridang assembly segment in Mokokchung district, official sources said.

An IRB soldier on patrol duty was injured in the firing, they said, adding there was no report of any major disturbance during the poll process from anywhere.

Repolling could not be held at three booths under Kiphire sub-division in Tuensang district, as the Election Commission's approval for repoll could not be communicated to the interior villages on time, sources said. The process would be conducted there on Saturday.

The recommendation for a repoll in seven remote polling stations in the same district reached Kohima on Friday morning and repolling would be held there on March 3, they said.
