The mouthwatering quarter-final clash between South Africa and Sri Lanka at the World Cup turned out to be a one-sided affair at Sydney Cricket Ground.
Sri Lanka, who were expecting to give the legendary retiring duo of Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene a perfect send-off, had their hopes dashed after they were bundled out for 133 -- the fifth lowest score in the current World Cup.
Sangakkara was the lone ranger with 45 runs to his name.
The Proteas cruised to a nine-wicket win after an unbeaten 78 off just 57 balls from wicketkeeper-opener Quinton de Kock.
Earlier, Jean Paul Duminy registered South Africa's first hat-trick of the World Cup, while Imran Tahir finished with 4-26 as they ran through the Sri Lankans.
Here’s what Abhishek Mande/Rediff.com and cricket fan Manu Shankar/Rediff.com had to say about the game.
