Yuvraj Singh has been included in India's squad for the T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka next month.

The star of India's World Cup triumph last year made a successful recovery from cancer and played his first practice match a couple of days back.

Despite him getting a fitness certificate from the National Cricket Academy there were doubts whether he would be picked and was fit enough to play in a full game.

The selectors deliberated on his inclusion for a considerable time and decided to go ahead with it.

Ahead of the WorldT20 in Sri Lanka, Yuvraj will also be part of the Indian team for the two T20 internationals against New Zealand, to be played in Vizag (Sept 8) and Chennai (Sept 11).

Besides, he is also supposed to play in the Buchi Babu tournament beginning next week.

In a surprise move, selectors included Harbhajan Singh for the event in Sri Lanka despite keeping him out of the Test squad. The offie is also part of the squad for the two T20 matches against New Zealand.

Rohit Sharma, under severe criticism following his recent form, survived the axe while Manoj Tiwary, who impressed in the limited opportunities that he got in the just-concluded series in Sri Lanka also retained his place.

Meanwhile, Zaheer Khan, as expected, will lead the bowling attack with Irfan Pathan, Ashok Dinda and Lakshmipathy Balaji providing him the requisite support.

T20 squad: MS Dhoni (captain), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Manoj Tiwary, Irfan Pathan, R Ashwin, Zaheer Khan, L Balaji, Piyush Chawla, Harbhajan Singh, Ashok Dinda.
