Warner sends a message to bowlers

David Warner was one of the players to look out for when the T20 World Cup started. After all, the Australian had shown what he is capable of in the Indian Premier League with his big-hitting ability.

On Friday, he exploded with brute force, and completely blew away India when the teams met in the Super Eights.

Warner scored a breezy 72 from 42 balls, which included two boundaries and seven sixes, as Australia posted a competitive 184 for five at a sun-drenched Kensington Oval.

He was severe on both, pacers as well as spinners -- especially Ravindra Jadeja.

Jadeja was first hit for three consecutive sixes by Shane Watson, and then Warner matched his partner stroke for stroke by hitting the hapless bowler for another three.

The left-hander's innings ended in the 14th over, caught behind off the bowling of spinner Yuvraj Singh.

Warner and Watson's quickfire half-centuries laid the foundation for the huge total. The latter slammed 54 from 32 balls, including six sixes and a boundary, before he was bowled by Yusuf Pathan.

He added 104 runs in a mere 65 balls for the opening wicket with Warner to put Australia in the driver's seat.

Harbhajan Singh shone among the ruins, giving away just 15 runs in his four overs, inclusive of a maiden.

Ashish Nehra, who took two for 31, and Yuvraj Singh (two for 20) chipped in with vital wickets at the end to restrict Australia in the final few overs.

Michael Clarke's side struck more than half of their runs from sixes -- smashing 16 -- before the Australian pace attack, relishing the fast and bouncy track, ripped through the Indian top order.

Dirk Nannes and Shaun Tait, who took three wickets each, generated some real pace as Australia reduced India to 50 for seven after 10.3 overs.

Although Rohit Sharma struck a magnificently entertaining unbeaten 79, including six sixes, it was an innings that only served to add respectability to the magnitude of India's defeat.
