Sri Lankan batsman Dinesh Chandimal says he is set to go back to his old batting style as he aspires to do well in the ICC World T20.

"When I came to the (Sri Lanka) side, I played some really good cricket, then suddenly I changed (my) technicals (techniques), but it did not suit me. That is the period, when I went to bat and I thought that is not my game and suddenly I should play like before and I am doing that this time," he said.

"I did change my bat grip. I thought it was good for Test cricket, I went out mentally and I made it like when I (initially) came into the side. I saw previous batting clips," Chandimal, who will be keeping wickets for the T20, added.

Describing Mahela Jayawardane's and Kumara Sangakara's retirement as a "big loss", Chandimal said young players like him and (skipper) Angelo Matthews need to fill in their shoes.

Chandimal, who had previously led the side, said he is looking forward to doing well in the World Cup.

"Doesn't matter whether I am a captain (or) not and you should play your best game, we got some really good youngsters and seniors, I am looking forward to the world cup," said Chandimal, who idolises former Lanka ‘keeper Romesh Kaluwitharana.

Another Sri Lankan player Milinda Siriwardana said he needs to perform well in the upcoming World T20.

"I am looking forward to have a good tournament here. We have too many IPL players. They have given me tactics on how to play in Indian wickets," he said.

He said there is no pressure for the side which is the defending champion but they are "missing" Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardane.
