Expressing her happiness over Kolkata hosting the India-Pakistan World T20 cricket clash, on Saturday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee assured the organisers to provide foolproof safety and security arrangements for the final match on April 3.

"I want to thank International Cricket Council, Board of Control for Cricket in India, Cricket Association of Bengal and (CAB president) Sourav Ganguly for organising this big event in Kolkata," Banerjee said before the start of the high-voltage tie.

"We will provide all kinds of safety, security and cooperation for the final also. Kolkata welcomes all of you," she said.

An outfit, Anti-Terrorist Front of India, which is opposed to the Pakistan cricket team playing in India, had earlier threatened to dig up the pitch of Eden Gardens so that today's match did not take place. A thick security blanket had been thrown around the Eden Gardens and the hotel, where the Pakistan cricket team has been put up, following the threat.
