Stats highlights: India vs Afghanistan, World T20

Statistical Highlights from the third match of the ICC World Twenty20 between India and Afghanistan in St Lucia on Saturday.

• Murali Vijay made his Twenty20 international debut. He became the 27th player to represent India in Twenty20 internationals. Interestingly, one-third of the Indian team made their debut during the previous two World Cups -- seven in 2007-08 and one each in 2009 and 2009-10 World Cups.

• Noor Ali (50) became only the second Afghanistan batsman after Mohammad Shahzad to score a fifty in T20 internationals. Shahzad had made an unbeaten 65 against Ireland at Dubai on 13-02-2010.

• Noor Ali's 47-ball fifty is the second slowest in the World Cup after DS Smith's 49-ball fifty for West Indies against Bangladesh at Johannesburg on 13-09-2007.

• Asghar Stanikzai became the first Afghanistan batsman to hit three sixes in an innings.

• The fourth wicket partnership of 68 runs between Noor Ali and Asghar Stanikzai is the highest for Afghanistan for this wicket in T20Is. The previous highest was a paltry 19 between Mohammad Shahzad and Raees Ahmadzai against Netherland at Dubai on 12-02-2010.

• Afghanistan's total of 115 for 8 is the lowest by any side against India in a full 20-over game. The previous lowest was 116 for 9 by South Africa at Durban on 20-09-2007.

• Ravindra Jadeja became fifth Indian to bowl a maiden in T20Is after Sreesanth (2), Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh and Ajit Agarkar.

• Mahendra Singh Dhoni became the first Indian wicketkeeper and sixth overall in Twenty20 internationals to effect four dismissals in a match. Australia's Adam Gilchrist has done so on two occasions. Dhoni is the fifth keeper to do this in World Cup match after Gilchrist, Matt Prior, Kamran Akmal and NJ O'Brien.

• Yuvraj Singh, on 19, completed his 500 runs in T20Is. He thus became only the second Indian batsman to do this after Gautam Gambhir, who has aggregated 556 runs from 20 appearances.

• Murali Vijay's 48 is the third highest score by an Indian on T20I debut. Robin Uthappa made 50 against South Africa also at Durban on 20-09-2007.

• Vijay played as many as 22 dot balls -- second most by any Indian batsman in a T20I innings. Dinesh Mongia had played 27 dots against South Africa at Durban on 01-12-2006 (Gautam Gambhir had also played 22 dots against Australia at Mumbai BS on 20-10-2007).

• India won the match with 5.1 overs (31 balls) to spare, which is their biggest win in T20Is in terms of balls. They had beaten Ireland with 15 balls to spare at Nottingham on 10-06-2009.

• Ashish Nehra won his maiden Man of the Match award in T20Is.
