Rohit Sharma proved his captaincy credentials during IPL-6, leading Mumbai Indians to its first IPL title.
The 26-year-old batsman provided a glimpse of his ability to lead a team, prompting India vice-captain Virat Kohli to laud his India teammate.
"He (Rohit) has tremendous cricketing brain. I often take his advice during matches," Virat said.
"I got a chance of being a captain in recently concluded Zimbabwe series. I like to be a captain and take responsibility," Kohli said on Tuesday.
"As a batsman, we focus on ourselves, but as a captain we have to look into every aspect. The responsibility increases manifold as the captain," he added.
On his future plans, Kohli said, "I never plan anything and believe in consistency. I can't tell what will happen in future."
The champion batsman said that the upcoming series against South Africa was important and hoped that the new faces in the Indian team would give a good performance.
