There were a lot of question marks over David Warner, given his form coming into the T20 World Cup in the UAE.
Without doubt, he answered them all with match-winning knocks in the semi-finals and final to be adjudged 'Player of the Tournament'.
His 49 off 30 balls in the semi-final against Pakistan and the 53 off 38 in the final against New Zealand were cornerstones as Australia cruised to their maiden ICC T20 World Cup crown after beating New Zealand by eight wickets in the final, in Dubai, on Sunday.
During the course of his knock in Sunday's final, the opener became Australia's highest run-scorer in T20 World Cups.
He achieved this feat with an amazing knock of 53 runs and took his T20 World Cup 2021 tally to 289 runs.
Matthew Hayden previously held that distinction with 265 runs, scored during the 2007 T20 World Cup, followed by Shane Watson, with 249 runs in the 2012 T20 World Cup.
Warner also emerged the second-highest run-scorer of the T20 World Cup 2021, behind Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, who finished with 303 runs.
Having looked out of form going into the tournament, he scored three half-centuries in seven innings, for an average of 48.16. His highest score in the tournament was 89 not out, against the West Indies.
