The selection of Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun in the West Zone Under-16 side has left cricket fans on social media angry.

Fans are furious over the exclusion of Pranav Dhanawade, the first batsman in the game's history to score 1,000 runs in an innings.

The squad, announced by Baroda Cricket Association secretary Snehal Parikh, was selected by the All India Junior Selection Committee on Monday.

Dhanawade, the son of an auto-rickshaw driver, scripted history by scoring 1,009 runs off just 327 balls, at a strike rate of 312.38, in a Bhandari Cup match this January.

The Bhandari Cup is an Under-16 tournament, organised by the Mumbai Cricket Association, for suburban schools. 

When Dhanawade scored the 1009 runs, he was 15 years of age.

According to his profile on the Internet, his date of birth is May 13, 2000.

If that's the case, then he must have been omitted because he has already turned 16. Besides, he hasn't represented Mumbai in age-group cricket.
