Second India-Lanka ODI called off

August 20, 2006

The start of the second one-day international between India and Sri Lanka has been abandoned on Sunday due to a waterlogged pitch.

The umpires were to make an inspection at 1230 IST to decide whether play is possible for the day, but further rain forced the match to be called off. The match will be played on Monday, the reserve day.

The first one-dayer was abandoned because of wet weather.

A three-match series has been scheduled after South Africa pulled out of a triangular series and returned home on Thursday because of security concerns.
