Rain washes out SL-NZ match again

August 20, 2010

- Scorecard

Rain played spoilsport for the second successive day, washing out the tri-series one-day international between Sri Lanka and New Zealand, in Dambulla, on Friday.

Put in to bat, Sri Lanka were 203 for three in 43.4 overs when the heavens opened up, stopping play at the Rangiri Dambulla International stadium.

The fourth match of the triangular series between the two nations was called off on Thursday without a ball being bowled because of incessant rain, forcing the organisers to schedule play on the reserve day.

New Zealand lead the points table with seven points from four matches, while Sri Lanka are second with six points and India bottom on five.

Mahela Jayawardene was unbeaten on 59, having scored his 55th one-day international fifty, with Chamara Silva on 41 when play was halted.

Scott Styris claimed two wickets for 36 runs.

The next match is between India and Sri Lanka, on Sunday.
