Sachin Tendulkar sustained a finger injury in his left-hand and was retired hurt, when he tried to fend off an ugly snorter from Chennai Super Kings bowler Doug Bollinger in the IPL opener in Chennai.
However, it is still not clear whether it is fracture or a simple bruise.
It was the fifth ball of the ninth over and Tendulkar who was batting on 15 got a short ball from Bollinger. It climbed onto him as the delivery hit one of the green patches and reared up uncomfortably. Tendulkar could just fend it off as it hit him on the glove.
The iconic batsman however faced the next delivery and got a single to go onto 16. However at the end of the over, he sought medical attention. But after being advised to retire, Tendulkar was seen returning to the dug-out looking inconsiderable pain. He had scored 16 off 15 balls with a four and a six off Albie Morkel.
