Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli joined the chorus of top Indian cricketers in congratulating Mithali Raj on becoming the highest run-getter in the history of women's ODIs.
"Congratulations, @M_Raj03! Becoming the highest run scorer in Women's ODIs is a huge achievement. Also, superb knock today!," Tendulkar tweeted.
Indian men's team skipper Kohli termed it a "great moment" in Indian cricket.
"A great moment for Indian Cricket, @M_Raj03 becomes the highest run scorer in Women's ODI Cricket History today. Champion Stuff!," Kohli wrote on his Twitter page.
Umesh Yadav and Ajinkya Rahane also congratulated Mithali.
Former captain and COA member Diana Edulji also congratulated current India skipper Mithali.
"It is a landmark day for India's women's cricket. First Jhulan Goswami became the leading wicket-taker in ODIs, now Mithali has broken Charlotte Edwards' record. It also shows that our women's game is on the up," Edulji said.
While Mithali's ODI average is remarkably over 50, she has got some flak for her performance in the T20 format.
Edulji sees 34-year-old Mithali playing for another year before calling it a day.
"She has already said that it is going to be her last World Cup. Like Jhulan, she is also in the twilight of her career. I see her playing for at least another year," Edulji added.
