Ajantha Mendis (78) notched his highest score in first-class cricket on Day 4 of the third and final Test between India and Sri Lanka in Colombo on Friday.
The spin ace's 78 is the highest by a Sri Lankan batsman at number 10.
He obliterated Nuwan Kulasekara's 64 against England at Lord's in 2006.
Mendis's innings is also the highest by a number 10 batsman against India, putting into shade West Indian Andy Roberts's 68 at Kolkata in 1983-84.
In all Test cricket, it is the eighth highest score by a number 10 batsman.
