At The Oval on Thursday, Dimitri Mascarenhas hit Yuvraj Singh for five consecutive sixes in the 50th over of England innings.

There has been only one performance better than this in entire history of one-day internationals.

This was when South Africa's Herschelle Gibbs smashed six sixes in one over off Dutch bowler Daan van Bunge at the 2007 World Cup earlier this year.

Sri Lanka's Sanath Jayasuriya has twice hit four sixes in a single over, against Aamir Sohail in 1996 and Chris Harris in 2001.

The following table lists the batsmen hitting most consecutive sixes in a single over:
Sixes Batsman Bowler Teams Venue Year
6 H Gibbs D van Bunge SA v Ned Basseterre 2007
5 D Mascarenhas Yuvraj Singh Eng v Ind The Oval 2007
4 S Jayasuriya Aamir Sohail SL v Pak Singapore 1996
4 Zaheer Khan H Olonga Ind v Zim Jodhpur 2000
4 S Jayasuriya C Harris SL v NZ Sharjah 2001
4 S Pollock J Franklin SA v NZ Perth 2002
4 Mashrafe Mortaza D Mongia BD v Ind Mirpur 2007

Note: Zaheer Khan's sequence was interrupted by a wide ball
