England cricketer Moeen Ali detained at Birmingham airport

April 10, 2016

In a shocking incident, England cricketer Moeen Ali was on Saturday stopped at the Birmingham airport for close to 40 minutes.

Ali was on his way to join the rest of the Worcestershire side for the opening game of the 2016 County Championship.

The England all-rounder was clearly angry with the treatment meted out to him and took to Twitter to voice his sentiments.

"Have never been stopped at the airport when travelling with a team in uniform, but travel alone and get stopped for 40 minutes!! Joke," Ali tweeted.

Ali's England teammate Adil Rashid was quick to offer his support by terming the airport authorities as clowns.

"@MoeenAli that's a shambles my pra #clowns," read Ali’s tweet.

Ali’s family hails from POK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir), and the cricketer is often regarded as a role model for British Asians.
