Shashank Manohar will soon tender his resignation as president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
Former president Sharad Pawar has emerged the consensus candidate to succeed him.
Reports suggest that Manohar may soon quit owing to the Supreme Court's insistence as regards implementation of the Lodha Committee's recommendations.
Manohar, who was elected BCCI president last year after the position was left vacant due to the death of Jagmohan Dalmiya, is expected to be elected International Cricket Council chairman, reports further suggest.
According to new rules passed during the tenure of Manohar himself, no individual can hold an important post in the ICC while simultaneously being the Board president.
The ICC election is due next month and the process to elect a new chief will be completed by May 23.
Reports add that all member boards of the ICC are in Manohar's favour and he is expected to be elected president unanimously.
