In a unique way of paying tribute to Sachin Tendulkar, a new variety of mango has been named after the Indian batting icon.
Kalimullah Khan, an elderly farmer from Malihabad in Lucknow district of Uttar Pradesh, came up with a noble way to salute the highest run accumulator in Tests and One-Day Internationals.
"There is no player like our Sachin Tendulkar in the whole world and that's why I have named this variety of mango after Sachin," Khan told NDTV.
He, however, said the new variety will not go on sale, as Tendulkar is "priceless".
"Our Sachin is a world hero and he is priceless and not a saleable commodity.
"I am planning to donate a tree of Sachin mangoes to the cricketer so that he can enjoy them with his friends," said the farmer, who has produced nearly 300 new mango varieties and won the country's top civilian award for his work on mango grafting and cultivation.
