Nagpur: Swarupam Purkayastha (4-47) and Amit Verma (3-24) shared seven wickets as Assam dismissed Vidarbha for 154 in their first innings and then reached 36 for two on the second day of their Group A match.

Resuming at 1-0, Vidarbha rode on a 67-run innings by Ganesh Satish and a 40-ball stay by Wasim Jaffer but rest of the batsmen could not provide the necessary support as the hosts gave away a 54-run first innings lead to Assam. While Purkayastha and Verma did the maximum damage, Krishna Das and J Syed Mohammad also picked up one wicket each for Assam.

At the draw of stumps, Gokul Sharma (3) and Amit Verma (5) were at the crease with Assam leading by 88 runs with eight wickets remaining in their second innings at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Jamtha.

Brief scores:
Assam: 206 & 36-2 in 16 overs (PP Das 21; AA Sarwate 2-3)
Vidarbha 1st innings: 154 all out in 74 overs (G Satish 67; S Purkayastha 4-47).

Delhi in a spot at 100-3 after Bengal score 357

New Delhi: Delhi looked in some sort of discomfort at home turf for the first time this season as they reached 100 for three in reply to Bengal's 357.

On a tricky Kotla surface with variable bounce, Ashoke Dinda (1-27) removed Gautam Gambhir (0) leg before in the very first over as the India discard was beaten for pace.

Veteran left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha (1-28) then dismissed Gambhir's deputy Unmukt Chand (13) with a ball that kept low and caught him plumb in-front. Debutant Risabh Panth (28) looked in flowing touch as he tonked Ojha for a straight six and hit some elegant drives off Dinda.

Just when he was looking set, indiscretion cost him as he tried to cut a Veer Pratap Singh (1-17) delivery edging one to Wriddhiman Saha behind the stumps. However young left-hander Nitish Rana (30 batting) continued his consistent form adding 44 runs for the fourth wicket with Milind Kumar (20 batting).

Brief scores:
Bengal:
357 (Sudeep Chatterjee 116, Wriddhiman Saha 72, Manoj Tiwary 55; Pradeep Sangwan 4-48)
Delhi: 100-3 (Nitish Rana 30 batting; Pragyan Ojha 1-28, Ashoke Dinda 1-27, Veer Pratap Singh 1-17).

Bowlers help Haryana get big lead against Karnataka

Mysuru: If the opening day saw centurion Virender Sehwag at his vintage best, then Day Two witnessed the domination of Haryana bowlers as the visitors packed Karnataka for 221 to grab a 110-run first innings lead in the Group A match.

Starting on their overnight score of 319 for eight, Haryana innings folded for 331 as Sehwag remained the top-scorer with 136. Jayant Yadav's 100 also remained unmatched.

Sharing the new ball with skipper Vinay Kumar, medium-pacer HS Sharath picked up a wicket today to register his fourth five-wicket haul in first-class matches. The visitors' domination though continued at the Srikantadatta Narasimha Raja Wadeyar Ground, with the bowlers coming out all guns blazing against the defending champions.

Brief scores:
Haryana: 331 and 27-0 in 9 overs (Rahul Dewan 10 not out, Nitish Saini 13 not out; Vinay Kumar 0-9)
Karnataka: 221 (Lokesh Rahul 63, Chidhambharam Gautam 45 not out; Rahul Dagar 3-10, Jayant Yadav 2-75).

Iyer ton leads run-feast as Mumbai post 447

Vadodara: Shreyas Iyer's strokeful century may have powered Mumbai to 447, but the run-feast continued as Baroda also responded with a strong 133 for one at stumps of the Group B match.

Starting on their overnight score of 317 for three at the Reliance Stadium, Mumbai lost Iyer (173) early as the top-order batsman was run out by Yusuf Pathan after adding just 6 runs to his Day 1 score.

Surakumar Yadav (68) could also add just 2 runs to his overnight score as the Mumbai innings started wobbling. But Abhishek Nayar struck a defiant 89 and stitched a 70-run tenth-wicket stand with Shardul Thakur (24) to give muscle to the Mumbai score.

In reply, the hosts lost their opener early after Monil Patel (10) was scalped by Dhawal Kulkarni for 10, but Kedar Devdhar (84 not out) and captain Aditya Waghmode (35 not out) stitched an unbeaten 113-run stand to give the home team hope. They still trail by 314 runs in the first innings.

Brief scores:
Mumbai: 447 (Shreyas Iyer 173, Suryakumar Yadav 68, Abhishk Nayar 89; Ajitesh Argal 4-67, Hardik Pandya 2-50)
Baroda 133-1 (Kedar Devdhar 84 not out, Aditya Waghmode 35 not out; Dhawal Kulkarni 1-31).

Jadeja helps Saurashtra notch up 35-run win

Rajkot: Ravindra Jadeja returned with a sensational seven-wicket haul as Saurashtra notched up a convincing 35-run win over Hyderabad in their Group C match.

Jadeja, who has been recalled into India's Test squad for the upcoming series against South Africa, had snapped six for 75 on Thursday and he followed it up with a brilliant seven for 60 to help Saurashtra register their third successive wins.

With this win, Saurashtra grabbed six points from the match to top Group C with 19 points from three wins in as many matches.

After an exciting opening day which saw two stunning batting collapses, the second day of the match saw Saurashtra post 215 all out in 67 overs in their second innings to set Hyderabad a victory target of 170 runs.

However, Hyderabad's run chase was derailed by Jadeja, who struck right from his first over, as the visitors folded for 134 in just 40 overs at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.

Brief scores:
Saurashtra: 102 & 215 (CS Jani 65; M Hassan 5-69)
Hyderabad: (India) 148 & 134 (BP Sandeep 46; R Jadeja 7-60).
