Baroda secured three points by virtue of their first innings lead after their Ranji Trophy Group B match against Karnataka ended in a tame draw on the fourth and final day in Vadodara on Monday.
The outcome of the match was already decided on Sunday as Baroda, resuming at the overnight score of 115 for four, were bowled out for 249 in their second innings, thereby giving Karnataka an improbable 372 run target to chase for an outright win.
Chasing the target, Karnataka could only manage 102 runs for the loss of one wicket in 32 overs in their second innings.
Robin Uthappa top-scored for Karnataka in their second essay, with a 61-ball 43, while KB Pawan and Ganesh Satish remained unconquered on 39 and 14, respectively.
Skipper Yusuf Pathan scalped the only Karnataka batsman to fall on the day.
Karnataka, however, did not go back empty handed from the match at Moti Bagh Stadium as they returned with one point.
Earlier, resuming the day at 115 for four, Abhimanyu Chauhan failed to add to his overnight score of 52.
Irfan Pathan (38), Pinal Shah (22), Ketan Panchal (58) and Ganagandeep Singh (24) made useful contributions with the bat to take Baroda close to the 250-run mark.
The trio of Abhimanyu Mithun (2/47), Stuart Binny (2/29) and Amit Verma (2/20) picked up two wickets apiece for Karnataka.
Brief Scores:
Baroda: 406 & 249 all out in 84.1 overs (Ketan Panchal 58, Abhimanyu Chauhan 52; Amit Verma 2/20, Stuart Binny 2/29, Abhimanyu Mithun 2/47).
