Punjab rode on a superb century by Ravneet Ricky and fine bowling by Gagandeep Singh to score a 66-run victory over Delhi in a North Zone one-day Ranji Trophy cricket league match in Dharamsala on Tuesday.

Star batsmen Ajay Jadeja (3) and Gautam Gambhir (10) came a cropper as Delhi could score just 159 in reply to Punjab's 225 for nine in 50 overs.

Ravneet's unbeaten 124, studded with nine fours and four sixes, and a spell of four for 15 by Gagandeep were instrumental in Punjab's easy victory.

Vipul Sharma also made a significant contribution, taking three wickets for 31 runs.

Except for Varun Sharma (33), Rajan Gupta (32) and Rajat Bhatia (28), no other Delhi batsman was able to negotiate the bowling attack of Punjab confidently.

Earlier, electing to bat, Punjab were off to a shaky start, losing four wickets for 91 runs before Ravneet steadied the sinking ship with his sterling knock. Harbhajan Singh was the second highest contributor to the total with 24 runs.

For Delhi, Ashish Nehra and Amit Bhandari finished with three for 36 and two for 59 but they failed to stop Ravneet from piling up a big score.

Kolkata: The East Zone Ranji Trophy one-day league matches between Bengal and Jharkhand and Tripura and Assam were washed out due to heavy rains in the city on Tuesday.

All the four teams were awarded two points each as the umpires waited till after lunch before deciding to call off the games.

The Bengal-Jharkhand tie was scheduled to be played at the Eden Gardens while the Tripura – Assam match was at the Jadavpur University campus, Salt Lake.
