Preity suggests lie detector tests for cricketers to prevent fixing in IPL

August 19, 2015

Kings XI Punjab co-owner Preity Zinta on Wednesday denied media reports that claimed she told Indian Premier League officials that some players from her team "may have indulged in suspicious activities linked to throwing matches".

A report in the Indian Express quoting sources said Zinta told the IPL working group meeting on August 8 that she had seen such activities from close quarters and wanted to speak earlier about it but possessed no proof.

It further stated: "Zinta also said that she had felt at times that some IPL matches involving her team had followed a pre-decided pattern."

An angry Zinta slammed the report on her Facebook page saying: "This piece of article is completely false, libel per say, inaccurate and an irresponsible piece of journalism. I am very proud to be part of KXIP - We have the best team & support staff & under no circumstance will I tolerate slander towards me or my team, specially when it comes to our Integrity."

The Bollywood actress claimed she had suggested to the Board of Control for Cricket in India to conduct random lie detector tests to prevent match-fixing in the IPL.

"I suggested RANDOM POLYGRAPH ( LIE DETECTOR) Tests to BCCI for players so no can even think about match fixing. The theory being that 'prevention is better than cure'," she tweeted.

"A constructive conversation to genuinely make a difference to the game is turned into a destructive article for sensational purpose," she added.
