Statistical highlights after Day One of the first cricket Test between India and New Zealand in Ahmedabad on Thursday.

# Virender Sehwag, for the third time in a calendar year, has aggregated 1,000 runs or more -- the first two instances were -- 1141 at an average of 63.38 in 12 Tests in 2004 and 1462 at 56.23 in 14 Tests in 2008.

# Sehwag is only the second batsman to aggregate 1,000 runs in 2010.  Sachin Tendulkar is the leading run-getter this year -- 1283 (ave.98.69) in 10 Tests.

# Sehwag's 173 off 199 balls is his first hundred at Motera, bettering 51 against Sri Lanka in November 2009.

# Sehwag, for the first time, has recorded five hundreds in a calendar year. The Indian record is held by Sachin Tendulkar -- 6 in 2010.

# Of his 22 centuries, 21 have been made in the first innings and only one in the second.

# Sehwag has taken his run-aggregate to 1077 at an average of 67.31 in 17 innings (10 Tests) in 2010. His tally includes five hundreds and four half-centuries.

# Sehwag's 173 is his best innings against New Zealand, bettering the 130 at Mohali in October 2003.

# Sehwag's second century against New Zealand is his 22nd in Tests.

# Sehwag has emulated Mohammad Azharuddin's feat of 22 Test centuries and only three batsmen have made more hundreds for India in Tests -- Sachin Tendulkar (49), Sunil Gavaskar

(34) and Rahul Dravid (30).

# Sehwag and Dravid, with their 237-run stand, have set a second-wicket record for India against New Zealand, bettering the 204 between Surinder Amarnath and Sunil Gavaskar at Auckland in 1975-76.

# Rahul Dravid has been associated in 15 partnerships of 200 or more in Tests, emulating Ricky Ponting's feat. Sachin Tendulkar holds a record with 18 partnerships of 200 or more.

# Dravid is the top run-scorer at Motera, aggregating 770 in 13 innings at an average of 64.16, including three hundreds and one fifty.

# Both Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar have recorded three hundreds at Motera.

# Rahul Dravid is the first player to register five hundreds in India-New Zealand Tests.

# Dravid is the eighth player to record 30 or more centuries, joining Tendulkar (49), Ricky Ponting (39), Jacques Kallis (35), Gavaskar (34), Brian Lara (34), Steve Waugh (32) and Matthew Hayden (30).

# Dravid, with 104, is the first player to make five hundreds in India-New Zealand Tests.

# Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir hold a record as an opening pair in terms of run-aggregate.  Their tally of 3026 (ave.57.09) in 55 innings has bettered the run-aggregate of 3010 (ave.53.75) in 59 innings by Chetan Chauhan and Sunil Gavaskar between 1973 and 1981.
