The numbers game - Day 4
October 12, 2008 19:23 IST

52 - number of extras conceded by Australia. This equals the worst performance by Australia in an innings. Australia had conceded 52 extras to England at Brisbane in 1982-83 in their score of 309.

50 - overs bowled by Kumble in the match without taking a wicket - his second worst match performance. At Cape Town against South Africa in 1996-97 he had bowled 51 overs without getting a wicket against his name.

13 - Zaheer Khan became the 13th Indian to perform the allround feat of scoring a fifty and capturing a five-wicket haul in the same match. He is the third Indian to do so against Australia after Rusi Surti (twice) and Kapil Dev.

13 - Matthew Hayden's run-aggregate in the match - his lowest against India. His previous lowest was 29 (12+17) at Adelaide in 2003-04.

2 - number of times India's number 8 and 9 batsmen scored fifties together in the same innings of a Test against Australia. Harbhajan (54) and Zaheer (57*) were preceded only by Anil Kumble (87) and Harbhajan (63) at Adelaide in January this year.

1 - number of times India have chased a fourth innings target between 250 and 300 against Australia. India won that match by 7 wickets - way back in 1964-65 at Bombay (Brabourne).
