Number crunching: Records galore for Kohli in 1st Twenty20I at Adelaide

Virat Kohli's elegant unbeaten 90 and some wily bowling by their spinners saw India secure a comprehensive 37-run victory over Australia in the first Twenty20 International at the Adelaide Oval on Tuesday.

2011 Year in which Ashish Nehra and Shaun Tait last played an international match. Both missed 200 and 195 matches at the international level (Tests + ODIs + T20Is) respectively before making a comeback on Tuesday.

134 Runs added by Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina -- India’s highest partnership for the third wicket in Twenty20 Internationals, their highest for any wicket against Australia and the third highest for any wicket in all Twenty20 internationals.

90 Kohli’s score -- his highest in Twenty20 Internationals, beating 78* vs Pakistan at Colombo RPS in 2012. This is also the highest individual score by any Indian batsman against Australia, eclipsing Rohit Sharma’s 79* at Bridgetown in 2010. Kohli’s innings is also the highest by a visiting batsman in Australia, surpassing 78 by South Africa’s JP Duminy and Rilee Rossouw.

48.08 Kohli’s batting average in Twenty20 Internationals -- highest for any player having scored 500 or more runs in this format.

10 Number of fifties Kohli has hit in Twenty20 Internationals -- first Indian and only the ninth batsman with 10 scores of fifty or more. Now only Brendon McCullum (15), Chris Gayle (14), Tillakaratne Dilshan (12) and David Warner (11) are ahead of him.

19 Runs conceded by Hardik Pandya in his first over -- most expensive first-over by a player making his T20I debut for a full-member side.

3 Number of times Shaun Tait has conceded 40 runs or more in a Twenty20 International -- most by any Australian, along with Shane Watson and Dirk Nannes.

2 Number of Indian batsman to reach 1,000-run mark in Twenty20 Internationals. Suresh Raina joined Virat Kohli.
