Virat Kohli continued in his good run of form, hitting his 15th Test century on Day 3 of the 4th Test against England at the Wankhede.
The India captain also completed a couple of personal landmarks during his innings, getting past 1,000 Test runs for 2016 and 4,000 career runs in the longest format.
Rajneesh Gupta presents some formidable numbers, summarising Kohli's records thus far...
1111: Virat Kohli’s run-tally in Test cricket in 2016 -- most by an Indian captain in a calendar year. Rahul Dravid had made 1095 runs in 2006.

14: Number of Indians to aggregate 4000 runs in Test cricket including Virat Kohli. At 28 years and 35 days Virat is the second youngest to reach this mark for India, after Sachin Tendulkar who was 24 years and 224 days old when he accomplished this feat.
2491: Virat’s run-tally in international cricket (Tests/ODIs/T20Is) in 2016 -- highest for any player. He moved ahead of England’s Joe Root’s tally of 2399 runs.
552: Runs scored by Virat in this series -- most by an Indian captain in a series against England. Sunil Gavaskar had made 500 in 1981-82 series. This is the second time Virat has aggregated 500 runs in a series (the other one was against Australia when he made 692 in four-match series in 2014-15).
2: Number of times Virat has scored 500 runs in a series. Only Sunil Gavaskar has done so more often for India (6 times). Gundappa Viswanath, Mohinder Amarnath and Rahul Dravid also scored 500 runs in a series on two occasions.
8: Number of hundreds scored by Virat as captain in Tests. Only Sunil Gavaskar (11) and Mohammad Azharuddin (9) have scored more Test hundreds as captain for India.
4.25: Innings taken by Virat to score a hundred as captain in Tests. Among all players who have scored at least five hundreds as captain, only two -- Don Bradman (2.71) and Kumar Sangakkara (3.71) -- have better innings per hundred ratio than Virat.
34: Number of innings taken by Virat to aggregate 2,000 runs as captain in Tests -- the fewest for any Indian. Sunil Gavaskar held the previous Indian record with 39 innings. In all Test cricket, only four players -- Don Bradman (24), Graham Gooch (29), Michael Clarke (32) and Mahela Jayawardene (32) -- have taken fewer innings than Virat to reach this mark.
50.07: Virat’s average in Test cricket at this point of time. He needs to remain unbeaten on Sunday or finish up with a score of 191 if he gets out -- to ensure his average remains at least 50. This will make him first player to average 50 in all three formats of international cricket.
