South African opener Neil Mckenzie, who hammered a century against India in the first cricket Test, is down with flu, South African team management said on Friday.

"McKenzie is down with flu and is under going treatment at his hotel. There is no reason to worry. He will be fully fit in a day or two, hopefully before South Africa takes the field in the second innings," Owen Smith, Media Manager of South African team, told PTI.

McKenzie did not come to the stadium on Friday as he was advised complete bed rest by the team doctor, Smith added.

Hot weather and a hectic schedule might have taken its toll on McKenzie as he has been down with flu since Thursday.

McKenzie, who scored 42 off 73 balls during the second Test against India here at the Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera, was escorted to his hotel on Thursday afternoon soon after his innings.

The South African opener had hammered the Indian bowlers during the first test in Chennai with a brilliant knock of 94 and 155 (not out).
