Narine may miss KKR's IPL opener following father's demise

Kolkata Knight Riders are most likely to miss the services of mystery spinner Sunil Narine in their opening Indian Premier League match against Delhi Daredevils in Kolkata, on Sunday.

The West Indies spinner, who arrived in India for the tournament last week, rushed home following the demise of his father.

KKR head coach Jacques Kallis said the team is not putting any pressure on the bowler about his return.

"We are certainly not putting any pressure on him to get back. It's something that I have been through. I know how tough a time it is. When he is right and he feels he is ready to play cricket he will come to us."

Narine had pulled out of the World Twenty20 to work on his bowling action after being banned from international cricket because of an illegal action.

Kallis claimed that Narine has reworked his action, adding KKR are hopeful of getting a positive verdict from the International Cricket Council.

"He has done a lot of work. We haven't got official verdict from the ICC yet, but, hopefully, it will come back positive. I'm pretty sure of it."
