'We aren't concerned with IPL security'

N Gopalaswamy, chief election commissioner who lays down his office on March 20, said that EC would need more security forces to ensure that elections could be held in free and free manner.

He rejected the idea of providing security cover to the cricket matches to be held by IPL.

"We are not concerned about providing security cover to them," he said while talking to journalists.

The statement given by him has virtually ruled out staging of the IPL tournament. Lalit Modi had airdashed to Delhi to present fresh schedule to the union home minister P Chidambaram who held meeting with his officials last year and after the meeting asked IPL to give fresh schedule.

Though Lalit Modi with the help of Arun Jaitley had fixed ten match, five in Karnataka, one each in Dharmshala,Mohali and Chattisgarh. A meeting his scheduled to be held in the home ministry on Monday to discuss the matter.

In 2004 election commission had spent more then Rs 1300 crore to hold 14th Lok Sabha election and in 2009 this is likely to go upto Rs 2000 crore.
