Australia and Indian Premier League team Kings XI Punjab batsman Luke Pomerbasch will appear in court on Friday for allegedly assaulting policemen while trying to evade custody after a car accident.
Poilce said Pomerbasch was drunk at the time of the incident.
The scuffle with the police occurred after Pomerbasch allegedly rammed his car into the back of another car in Perth yesterday.
"He was spoken to by police and as he was being placed in the rear of a police sedan, he informed police that he did not want to accompany them and tried to leave," police spokesman Greg Lambert was quoted as saying by the media in Melbourne.
"A struggle developed when police tried to restrain the man, during which a police officer was pushed backward into a window of the house, causing it to break. The man eventually managed to break free and ran away from the scene," the spokesman said.
Police said Pomersbach has been charged with "failing to stop after an accident, failing to accompany police when asked, driving with a blood-alcohol level in excess of .08, assaulting a public officer, obstructing police and escaping legal custody."
This is not the first time Pomerbasch has landed in alcohol-related problem. The 24-year-old along with Western Australia teammate Shaun Marsh was suspended for heavy drinking days before a match against South Australia in 2007.
He was also suspended in earlier this year after he failed to show up for a club game.
