Ponting back in Australia, prepares for Windies

May 05, 2008

Australia captain Ricky Ponting sets himself to throw the ball during a fielding drill at the team's training camp, in preparation for the Caribbean tour, at Allan Border Field, in Brisbane, on Monday.

Ponting returned to Australia after paying in the Indian Premier League Twenty20 tournament. While his Australia teammates did well, he struggled in the four matches he played, aggregating just 39 runs at 9.75 in four matches for the Kolkata Knight Riders, including a pair of ducks.

Speaking to ABC News after returning, Ponting was all praise for the IPL, saying it provides the chance to share a dressing-room with players who are usually rivals.

"I had [Sourav] Ganguly and Ishant Sharma both in my side. We got on really, really well," he said.

"I think it's a good opportunity for some of those cultural differences or breakdowns in international cricket to be understood better."
