A day after Kings XI Punjab's Glenn Maxwell returned home due to a side strain, team-mate Marcus Stoinis joined the list of Australian players leaving the ongoing Indian Premier League.
The 26-year-old all-rounder declared ‘family issue’ as the reason behind his withdrawal from the tournament.
Stoinis scored a total of 146 runs in five innings and bagged eight wickets for the Kings XI, who are out of contention for a berth in the play-offs.
He is the sixth Australian player to withdraw from the tournament early this season, after Mitchell Marsh, skipper Steve Smith, Shaun Marsh, John Hastings and Maxwell, who were all ruled out due to injuries.
Smith, Marsh and Maxwell are expected to be fit in time for next month's Caribbean tri-series, which will also feature South Africa.
