KCA seeks explanation from Sreesanth

Ace cricketer from Kerala S Sreesanth who was on loggerheads with Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) seems to be heading for trouble with the latter deciding to seek an explanation from the cricketer as to why he had spoken against the association and its office bearers.

A decision to this effect was taken at the general body meeting of KCA on Sunday in Kochi, which took the view that Sreesanth has exceeded his limits and violated code of conduct, KCA secretary T C Mathew said.

If Sreesanth repeats such things in future, the body authorized the office bearers an appropriate action immediately, he said.

Sreesanth earlier in an interview to the media had remarked that office bearers of KCA did not understand the sentiments of cricket players. Sreesanth was recently dropped from the captainship of Kerala cricket team.

Referring to other decisions of the meeting, Mathew said an organising committee for India-Australia ODI to be held in Kochi on October 17 has been constituted with Kathik Varma has general convenor and KCA President T R Bakakrishnan as executive chairman.

A tour programme has been fixed for the junior team to Sri Lanka. The team would play a number of matches he said.

This year the senior Kerala team will play matches against Punjab senior teams before the start of Ranji trophy matches, he said.

For the first time in Kerala's cricketing history, the association will be hosting 26 matches including the ODI match between India and Australia, three Ranji trophy matches, four under-22 matches and three under-19 matches, he said.

On the plans of the Association, he said, "KCA has been in excistence for sixty years. It is only natural that we recognise and celebrate excellence in our midst."

As part of this programme of "Celebrating Excellence", KCA has already started tournaments in memory of stalwarts of the game in the state and eminent personalities who have left their mark, he said.

The tournaments initiated are The TVS Mony Trophy State Championship for Under-16 and the SV Pandit State Championship for Under-19, other tournaments are being planned, he said.
