Facing a target of 438 to be made in 75 overs for a win, Karnataka managed to draw their Elite-A Ranji Trophy Cricket match against Tamil Nadu in Chennai on Monday.
The hosts, who were 185 for 6 overnight, declared their second innings at 237 for nine in 73.3 overs. Karnataka were 170 for 3 in 68 overs when the match was declared as a drawn tie.
Tamil Nadu gained three points from the match for having achieved first innings lead to total four points while Karnataka took a point to take their tally to eight.
For Tamil Nadu, R Srinivasan chipped in with a well made unbeaten 50. Medium pacer Aiyappa was the chief wicket-taker with 4 for 45 and Vinaykumar (2/64) and S Sunil (2/38) shared four wickets, while leggie Appanna claimed a piece.
In reply, Karnataka lost openers KB Pavan (13) and Robin Uthappa (30-6 fours) but Suchindra Shinde and C Raghu resisted the hosts attack adding 62 runs before the former made his exit being caught by wicket keeper Gopinath of makeshift bowler, Vasudevadas for 35 (3 fours).
Raghu (66) and captain Yere Goud (19) were batting when the rival captains settled for the draw at the end of eighth mandatory over.
