Star England paceman James Anderson has broken Australian legend Glenn McGrath’s record for number of wickets by a pacer in home conditions.
Anderson, who claimed four wickets in England’s thumping victory against Pakistan in the second Test, has now 291 wickets at home.
The England pacer overcomes McGrath’s long-standing record of 289 wickets that he took in Australia.
However, Anderson remains a long way behind Muthiah Muralidaran's overall record of 493 wickets at home, with fellow spinners Anil Kumble (350) and Shane Warne (319) also ahead of Anderson.
The England paceman has total number of 458th Test wickets as compared to McGrath’s 563.
The Test in Manchester also saw Anderson continue his remarkable hold over Pakistan opener Shan Masood, who he has dismissed six times in six consecutive Test innings.
Shane Warne currently holds the record of eight consecutive dismissals against a batsman, South Africa's Ashwell Prince, and Anderson will have the spin legend in his sights in Birmingham next week.
