Jacobs credits victory to all-round effort

Davy Jacobs was undoubtedly a happy man after guiding his side into its maiden Champions League Twenty20 final and the Warriors captain said the comfortable win against a formidable South Australia in the second semi-final was result of team effort.

He was of the view that both his batsmen and bowlers were impressive upfront which set the platform for the 30-run win over the Australian side.

"Obviously, I am very happy with the win. We got off to a good start and anything over 160 on this track was tough. And then (Lonwabo) Tsotsobe gave us a dream start with the ball," said Jacobs, who earned the man-of-the-match for his 41-ball 61.

"The first six overs in a Twenty20 game, both with the bat and the ball, is very important," he added.

Jacobs also praised South Australia speedster Shaun Tait, who picked up Warriors' opener Ashwell Prince in the second delivery of the innings.

"He (Tait) is a quality bowler. We knew he was crucial bowler for us, so I thought to get after the big boy and luckily, it came off today," he said.

Asked about the final against Indian Premier League champions Chennai Super Kings, the Warriors skipper said, "It will be a tough contest and I am looking forward to it."

Meanwhile, Jacobs' counterpart Michael Klinger said his bowlers gave 20 runs extra, which eventually turned out to be the difference between a victory and a defeat.

"On that wicket, I think we had given 20 runs too many. But we had a great tournament and it is disappointing not to have finished on a high after all the good work," the South Australia skipper said.

He said fielding and poor start with the bat were the other factors which did his side in at the SuperSport Park.

"We dropped a few catches. Unfortunately, today it just didn't happen. We gave it a good crack but lost a few wickets early, which didn't help," Klinger said.

"But the experience to play against some of the top teams and players of the world was fantastic for us. The boys have learnt a lot," he added.
