IPL III moved out of Hyderabad

February 13, 2010 16:16 IST

It's official.

The third edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will have no matches at Hyderabad.

The political unrest on the Telengana issue meant the Deccan Chargers, the defending champions and the resident team, will not get an opportunity to play in front of its fans.

Mumbai and Nagpur will now be the venue of the home matches of the holders.

The DY Patil Stadium in Nerul (Navi Mumbai) will host four matches of the Chargers, to be played on March 12 and April 5, 10 and 12 respectively.

The VCA Stadium in Jamtha (Nagpur) will play host to the matches on March 19, 21 and 28 respectively.

Hyderabad was earlier scheduled to host five matches, including the opener, which Mumbai will now host.
