Dutch allrounder Ryan ten Doeschate, who scored two centuries in the World Cup, said he is eyeing to score big runs for Kolkata Knight Riders in the fourth edition of the Indian Premier League.
Ten Doschate made his IPL debut against Deccan Chargers yesterday, but he did not get a chance to bat as Knight Riders posted a challenging 163 for four in 20 overs and eventually won the match by nine runs.
"It was really good to start on a winning note. It provides a different atmosphere in the team. We all are upbeat ahead of our next match (against Rajasthan Royals)," ten Doeschate said.
"I am looking forward to useful contributions for the team. We are a winning side now, it's a different feeling. The win was a good exercise for us," the 30-year-old said after KKR's practice session at the Eden Gardens.
But the Knight Riders got their campaign back on track yesterday, with the victory over Deccan in front of a half-filled Eden Gardens.
Playing their first home match without local hero Sourav Ganguly, the Eden did not witness a full house, and ten Doeschate hoped that the scenario would change as the tournament progresses.
"Whatever has happened has happened," he said about Ganguly's absence from the team.
"I am looking forward to play in front of a packed house with loud cheers, something that the Eden is known for," ten Doeschate, who scored 106 against Ireland in their last World Cup match at Eden Gardens, said.
