IPL, Modi and Power Games: What media says

April 21, 2010 16:03 IST

What goes up has to come down. The law of nature seems to have caught up with Indian Premier League czar Lalit Kumar Modi.  The man who was seen as the all-powerful moghul till recently is now increasingly getting isolated in the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

The media too has upped the ante, from which Modi has no respite. Every day, new stories appear on television, newspapers and websites, virtually forcing out skeletons from the IPL cupboard. The visual extravaganza has turned into a world of murky affairs.

Thursday was no different. It was Modi all over the front-pages. The DNA says Sharad Pawar has finally given the go-ahead to sack Modi.

In an analytical piece, rediff.com's Sheela Bhatt deconstructs the muddle

According to the Indian Express, which has been on a breaking story spree, the whole issue has become a political duel between the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party.

A hard-hitting Tehelka article says IPL has nothing to do with cricket. It is about politics, money and drugs, argues Shantanu Guha Roy.

To be continued.
