Indian women were handed a second consecutive loss by New Zealand as the hosts now trail 1-2 in the five match ODI series, in Bengaluru, on Friday.
Indian batting faltered after the home team won the toss at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, managing only 182 for nine in 50 overs with Veda Krishnamurthy (61) being the top scorer.
The Kiwis cantered to their target in 45.4 overs.
The 125-run stand between openers Suzie Bates (59) and Rachel Priest (64) pretty much sealed the match for the visitors, who have bounced back in the series after losing the opening match. Sophie Devine starred with the ball taking three wickets for 40 runs.
New Zealand need to win one of the two remaining games to register their first series victory in India. With the win, the White Ferns have move up to fifth position in the ICC Women's Championship while India will remain at the bottom of the table.
The top four sides from the Championship will qualify automatically for the 2017 World Cup, while the bottom four sides will play in the World Cup Qualifier.
Brief Scores:
India Women 182/9 in 50 overs (Veda Krishnamurthy 61; Sophie Devine 3-40)
New Zealand Women186/4 in 45.4 overs (Rachel Priest 64, Suzie Bates 59; Jhulan Goswami 1-28).
