What a comeback by Yuvraj! Congratulate him...

October 11, 2013 00:00 IST

Yuvraj Singh showed why he is regarded as India's biggest match-winner as he blasted an unbeaten 77 to propel India to a six-wicket victory over Australia in a high-scoring one-off T20, in Rajkot, on Thursday.

The left-hander, who hit eight fours and five sixes in his 35-ball knock, and forged an unbeaten 102-run stand with skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, helped India chase down a huge 202-run target with two balls to spare.

His heroics had helped India win the Under-19 World Cup in 2000, the Twenty20 World Cup in 2007 and the 50-overs' World Cup in 2011.

On Thursday, at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, he reconfirmed his value to the side.

Yuvraj’s last match for India was in January against England at Dharamsala after which he was dropped due to poor form and fitness.

The dashing batsman, who recovered from lung cancer last year, realised what was needed to return to the squad and underwent a rigorous six-week training programme in Brive La Gaillarde, France, under the watchful eyes of Tim Exeter to improve on his fitness and the results are out for everyone to see.

What a way to stage a comeback!

Join us in congratulating the swashbuckling left-hand batsman.
