India's batting sensation Cheteshwar Pujara's limped off following an injury during Tuesday's practice session for the third Test, which starts in Mohali on Thursday.
He was hit on the left leg by a local fast bowler who was bowling in the nets to the Indian batsmen.
Team physio Nitin Patel attended on him while he sat down with an ice pack on the injured part.
It will be a big blow for India if the in-form batsman, who scored a double century in the second Test in Hyderabad, is ruled out of the match.
India lead the four-Test series 2-0 following victories in Chennai and Hyderabad.
