Rohit Sharma completes 1000 ODI runs vs Australia in only 19 innings, the fewest by any batsman.
India stared the five-ODI series against Australia on a losing note, beaten by five-wickets in the first match in Perth on Tuesday.
Captain Steve Smith and George Bailey struck fluent centuries as Australia chased down a steep 310-run target to win with four balls to spare.
Smith was out after posting his highest ODI score of 149 with Australia two runs short of victory.
Earlier, opener Rohit Sharma smashed an unbeaten 171 as India amassed 309 for three after winning the toss and deciding to bat first in sublime batting conditions at the WACA ground.

It is also the fifth highest individual score by any batsman in Australia. Incidentally, the previous highest score by an Indian batsman in Australia was 141 by Sourav Ganguly vs Pakistan at Adelaide in 2000.
