India capitulated dramatically, losing the last nine wickets for 46 runs, to hand Australia a 25-run victory in the fourth ODI at Canberra despite outstanding centuries by Shikhar Dhawan (126) and Virat Kohli (106).

- Scorecard

Chasing a substantial 349 for their first victory in the series, the visitors looked set for it after Kohli and Dhawan guided them to 277 for the loss of one wicket.

However, a shocking batting collapse after Dhawan’s dismissal resulted in India snatching defeat from the jaws of what would have been a famous victory.

The visitors now trail 0-4 in the five-match ODI series.

Rajneesh Gupta has interesting numbers from the match. Check them out.

277 India’s total with one wicket down – the highest total after being one down from where a side got bowled out in a One-day international.

162 Innings taken by Virat Kohli to score 25 centuries in the shorter version of the game -- fewest by any batsman to do so. Sachin Tendulkar held the previous record with 234 innings.

77 Number of runs conceded by Ishant Sharma in the match -- most by an Indian bowler in a One-day international in Australia. Debasis Mohanty had conceded 76 runs against Pakistan at Hobart in 2000. The previous record of most expensive figures by an Indian bowler against Australia in Australia was shared by Irfan Pathan and Mohit Sharma, 75 runs at Sydney in 2004 and 2015 respectively.

72 Number of innings taken by Shikhar Dhawan to reach the 3000-run mark in One-day internationals – the fewest by any Indian to reach the landmark. Virat Kohli had done so in 75 innings. In all ODIs, only Hashim Amla (57) and Viv Richards (69) took fewer innings for this milestone (Gordon Greenidge and Gary Kirsten also needed 72 innings to accomplish this feat).

68 Runs conceded by Kane Richardson in the match – joint-fourth most by any bowler picking up a five-wicket haul in a One-day international, most expensive for a bowler taking five wickets against India.

8 Number of double century partnerships Kohli was involved in – most for any batsman in One-day internationals. Ricky Ponting and Upul Tharanga had seven double century partnerships.

2 Number of ODI centuries Kohli scored in the whole of 2015 (in 20 innings). In 2016 he has done that in just four innings.

1 Number of times two batsmen, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, scored two centuries each in a series, but still ended up on the losing side in all the matches!
