The ICC has begun the sale of tickets for the World T20 in India on its website from Wednesday. The delay in sale of tickets has affected the travel plans for fans from across the world.
The first phase of ticket sales excluded matches featuring India, the semi-finals and the final.
It featured matches from Bangalore, Chennai, Dharamsala, Kolkata and Mohali.
Tickets for the high profile matches (4 India, 2 semi-finals and a final) will be sold online through a lottery system. In order to participate, customers need to register by filling up an online registration form, indicating their preferred match after which they will be automatically enrolled into the draw.
ICC World T20 will be staged across eight venues in India from March 8 to April 3.
New Delhi and Mumbai will host the semi-finals on March 30 and 31 respectively, while Eden Gardens in Kolkata will be the venue for April 3 finals.
BCCI has appointed BookMyShow as the ticketing agency for the marquee event.
"The start of the online ticket sale is a key milestone in the countdown to the ICC World Twenty20 2016, and we are providing a level playing field, for fans to secure their individual tickets for the T20 extravaganza," said BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur.
