South Africa fast bowler Morne Morkel has revealed that a lot of green smoothies have helped him improve his fitness.
The Cricket World Cup like never before, only on rediff.com
Morkel is married to former Channel Nine presenter-turned-holistic health-and-wellness coach, Roz Kelly, and he has revealed that his better half urged him to opt for a more healthy diet.
Morkel has not gone completely vegetarian unlike Australian fast bowler Peter Siddle, who adopted a vegan lifestyle that includes eating up to 20 bananas a day.
Morkel claimed that he still eats meat, adding that he has just cut out his sugar intake. He insisted that he is very conscious about his sugar intake and the stuff he puts into his body.
The paceman claimed that he has cut out fizzy drinks, adding that he drinks water and mixes a lot of green smoothies. Morkel said that the new diet has given him more energy, which enables him to bowl longer spells.
