The Group B encounter between India and Pakistan at Edgbaston saw quite a few rain breaks, which eventually resulted in the match being a reduced affair.
The first of those rain breaks proved to be the turning point.
Kamran Akmal (21) and Mohammad Hafeez (27) had added 46 runs for the second wicket and Pakistan had reached 50 for two in the 12th over when play was disrupted for the first time.
When play resumed, Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck with his first ball, having Hafeez caught behind.
Akmal was dismissed shortly after, caught at leg slip by Virat Kohli (off R Ashwin) and Pakistan could never exactly recover from the double blow.
